Tampere City Region (with annotated conference locations)

There are frequent flights to the capital, Helsinki, from many European cities. The flight time from Helsinki to Tampere is about 30 minutes. Tampere can also be reached directly by air from Stockholm/Sweden. Tampere-Pirkkala airport is situated 15 km from the city centre of Tampere. Helsinki and Tampere are connected by regular, fast bus and train services. A bus service to Tampere operates directly from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The journey takes about two hours by train and three hours by bus.

Note: The Midsummer weekend (June 22-24) is a holiday in Finland and there is a reduced number of domestic flights and bus and train connections. Also most of the restaurants and other services are closed for the weekend. Do not be alarmed even though the cities seem deserted - Finns prefer to spend their Midsummer at the countryside.
